26th Wedding Anniversary at Komi, DC

We celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary at Komi, one of the highly rated restaurants in DC.
Our reservation was for 7:15 PM. Komi is located on the 17th street between P and Q in NW.  We were prepared to park in the parking garage on the P street, but as we made a left on P coming from 17th St., we found a street parking!
Our short walk from the P street where we parked to the entrance of the restaurant was pleasant and saw that this stretch of town is lined with quiet a few restaurants.  The hostess greeted us and showed us to our table which was just a table from the front window. Our waiter was young pleasant fellow who had worked at the restaurant for 4 years.  He was quiet versed with the menu.  He asked us if we had any likes or dislikes as far the food goes, and we told him that we could eat everything!  The next question was whether we were going with the wine paring option.  I asked a couple of questions about the food and the wines before we decided to go with the wine paring option.

First Wine- A Greek sparkling wine Amalia Brut- Light yellow color, fine effervescence and smooth/refreshing on the palate.
1st- Brioche Whipped Cod- One bite of balanced taste of cream and light fish aroma (No picture).

2nd- Crudo Monk Fish Carpaccio with Chili Citrus Broth- Elegant light taste.

3rd- Maine Divers Scallops Turkish Five Spice Radish Nutmeg and Cumin. The spices worked harmoniously well together!

4th- Salad of local greens shaved fennel with toasted flax seeds, Trout Roe. Beautifully presented dish, light taste.

Second Wine- 2010 Meurault Verget- This wine is 100% Chardonnay aged in new French Oaks barrels. Elegant yellow color.
5th- House Cured Mediterranean Sardines with Dungeness Crab Meat, Pickled Mustard Seeds, Olive Oil and Spices.
6th- Spanakopita- Greek savory pastry, it is in the burek family of pastries with a filling of chopped spinach, feta cheese (sometimes in combination with ricotta cheese, as it is less expensive, and adds creaminess), onions or scallions, egg, and seasoning. The filling is wrapped or layered in phyllo pastry with butter and/or olive oil, either in a large pan from which individual servings are cut, or rolled into individual triangular servings. 7th- Yukon Gold Potato gnocchi in Sea Urchin Butter Sauce.
